Project and CD

IN THE GIANT'S GARDEN

To_compose means to_put together. Great musicians are not necessarily excellent composers, which of course also applies vice versa. And yet there are and always have been, the exceptional talents who have mastered both perfectly, draw the perfect music from themselves and are able to implement it movingly.

The fundus from which Stewy, Giorgos and Kevin use are exclusively compositions by pianists, from well-known ones such as Thelonius Monk, Herbie Hancock or Keith Jarrett to those almost forgotten today such as Sir Roland Hanna, Mal Waldron or Ray Bryant, who recreated the iTRO together_joins.

Stylistically versatile music from different epochs that somehow touches you, be it through its groove, its lyrical power or the very own interpretation of the international trio.

Stewy von Wattenwyl has been part of the Brambus jazz family for decades and has delivered fine productions both solo, with his trio or with the singer Nicole Herzog, which have received great national and international recognition.

With the CD IN THE GIANTS GARDEN, von Wattenwyl realizes an idea that he has carried around with him as a dream project for many years: Only re-assemble music composed by pianists.

Music from well-known key artists such as Thelonious Monk, Herbie Hancock or Keith Jarrett to those who are almost forgotten today like Mal Waldron or Ray Bryant, rather not the hits but the pearls that did not make it into the Great American Songbook.

The trio is looking for and finding completely new ways and means to make every work shine in a diverse yet coherent bouquet. Stylistically diverse music from different eras, which touches somehow, be it through its groove, its lyrical power or the idiosyncratic arrangements and interpretations of the well-rehearsed ensemble.
